I am so excited. Even if I were in the place of a student returning to school on Tuesday after a memorable summer, I’d still be excited. Back to school was always an exciting time for me – a geek at heart. Who doesn’t love fresh school supplies? Post-its and pencils and notebooks and such.

PS. I broke 350 sales on Etsy and setting a stretch target of 400 sales by the end of 2012! :)

Be jealous of my awesome upcoming weekend lineup:
CNE Air Show (This means new aviation photos)
Backbeat Broadway Show (This is the story of how the Beatles became the Beatles. Thanks to my love who grabbed a hold of tickets at the last minute, to a high demand, sold out show that is ending this weekend.)

I had dinner with beloved friends yesterday evening, whom I miss oh so much. Life happens and before you know it, you’re relying heavily on text messages, voicemails, and phone calls to keep good relationships with those you care about. Face time becomes a once-every-two-months thing. Nonetheless, I have amazing people in my life and am truly blessed.

and that’s where I renew my springs that never dry up.”

I love the concept of solitude. Leads me to appreciate houses / structures in the middle of a vast and empty land that are seemingly alone and lonely, but are in fact peaceful and happy.

How can it be Monday again tomorrow?

O Canada. Air Canada. I love airplanes.

Not that you’d care to know but I am in desperate need of a pedicure. My toes have been a rugged, beaten up souvenir from Costa Rica since I returned from the trip three weeks ago. I’ve had no time to tend to them in this crazy life. It’s appalling but we’ll take care of it today. Happy Saturday!

By Tony Bennett. But I can’t leave my heart there if I haven’t been there, so take me to San Francisco. The longer I wait, the more I want to go. I’m attempting to squeeze another trip in before the end of the year – Expedia is not being a good friend at the moment. I need a good deal. The cardinal rule: no traveling on credit; no cash, no purchase, for the exception of a mortgage, a vehicle, or education. I’ll stay in a hostel; I’ll sleep under a tree; whatever. I’m just addicted to seeing and capturing pieces of the world through the lens. If I were a rich girl, I’d spend every penny on traveling – no amount of material things could ever take the place of beautiful experiences. Ok, so, San Francisco…

1/5 = 0.2
3/5 = 0.6
3/8 = 0.375
5/8 = 0.625
3/2 = 1.5
5/4 = 1.25
6/5 = 1.2
7/4 = 1.75

I’m memorizing like crazy – being able to comfortably switch back and forth between fractions and decimals is critical to the time and speed to completing certain types of math questions. Calculators not permitted. It’s either you know it from memory or you have to do long division (in the case of fraction-to-decimal conversions). I have to say, retention of information is not nearly as good as it was. Three years ago, I could memorize and recite five textbooks to you like it’s going out of style. Now it takes twice, maybe triple the effort. It’s true what they say – if you don’t use it, you lose it. I think certain parts of our brain become dormant when left unused. It slows down and then dies or something, so we must tend to these parts and ramp them back up now and again. If you’re anything like me, you’d fear a shallow, sleeping, stagnant, deteriorating mind. Continuous learning is key. It doesn’t matter how you do it, as long as you’re learning and putting your mind to work.
