My favourite quote from Water for Elephants. It’s a little like “Fake it ’til you make it”, but more beautiful. Anyway, I stepped into Water for Elephants not knowing what to expect, but fell head over heels in love with the film by the end of it. Later discovering that it was directed by Francis Lawrence of I Am Legend, it all made perfect sense. The circus tale set back in the 1930s reminded me of Big Fish, which is one of my favourite movies ever. And the 1930s-50s are my favourite eras because of that perfect old fashion look and feel that I appreciate so much. Like Pleasantville. Like The Notebook. I think this one made it to my list of favourites. I just go gaga over whimsical, magical, enchanting fairy tales like these and for two hours in the theatre, I wish that the film could become my reality. I, too, want to hop on a circus train and sit right on the roof and stare at the stars. It’s a bonus that Robert Pattinson is so disturbingly handsome and Reese Witherspoon is a doll as always. Loved the film and I highly recommend it.
