Snuck out to the lake to take this photo. I figured today is better than any other day to do a last “summer” photo since it’s going to get cold real fast real soon. I’ve been meaning to get this done, so I’m happy that I finally got around to it! :) It is also dedicated to a sweet friend in the skies, Dorothy, who passed away in October 2007, who was a lover of the beach and all beaches and beach bumminess remind me of her. Thinking of you, love!
And yes, it had to be that specific mailbox with that specific background. And yes, I was bad enough to open someone else’s mailbox to take a nice photo and I had to chase after a flyer that flew out of it. Anything for photography. I’m going to get myself in trouble soon enough. It’s all love.
If there is one thing I deeply envy, it is dancers. Dance is really one of my favourite art forms and I admire from afar. So You Think You Can Dance for instance, makes me really emotional. Anyway – this one is for dancers. Luckily this shot turned out quite pretty. I got home from work and rushed to the park to set this up super fast. And when the sunset was finally perfect, I started shooting away for a whole two minutes then a man came and completely interrupted and distracted me with a million questions and next thing you know, my perfect sunset was gone and I had all but five photos.
I’m pretty sure I’ve used this quote in another post, making this one a duplicate, but I do like it a lot that’s why. I’m so glad that there is still Vegas to look forward to in November. It’s getting so gloomy out there.
I’m also completely unimpressed with Canada Post. Is there anything slower than this thing? It is CRAWLING. None of my shipments have met their time guarantees and are taking forever to get to where they need to get to. At this rate, I’m going to take years off my life just worrying to death about my packages. It’s stressful and it’s a lot of anxiety because you can’t do anything about it. :( If I could hand-deliver everything to my lovely customers, I really would.
An old, old childhood friend who I haven’t seen in 13 years is visiting lovely Toronto and I am seeing her for the first time again today to show her Niagara Falls – how exciting! Squeezing in a post before I do that. Have a wonderful Sunday!
This is the final item in my summer (photo)bucket list – the Windfest 2011 Kite Festival by the beach. I can now say I’m ready for Fall. I’ve had the fullest, fullest summer yet. I traveled and I made every weekend back home an eventful weekend, not with party things, but with little road trips and adventures. I went to see Portugal, Spain, hot air balloons, kites, airplanes, carnivals, circuses, abandoned houses – things I love but would not have energy to get up and go do and see if it wasn’t for photography. So much of my photo wishes have come true. I’ve truly found something that makes me sooo happy. My Etsy Shop is at 127 sales – help me make it explode. Come shopping if you’re ever bored :).
There were a ton of crazy looking kites at the festival, but I had my eye on this one because it looked most like your classic, back-to-basics, diamond-shaped kite with a tail and it was a thousand times more beautiful than any kite packed with bells and whistles.
I found that the older I got, the less I could handle sitting for hours in a salon doing nothing, while I wait for my hair to soak up all the colour chemicals. So it’s becoming standard practice for me to lug my laptop with me and do work on it while at the salon. There’s wifi. Does anyone else do this?
This is supposed to be the actual plane from the movie Memphis Belle in 1990. Once again, I love the pin-up girl. It makes it look so old, so vintage.
