Thinking of you & missing you. Happy birthday, sweets. Today was as beautiful as you.
I’m not big on Beyonce, but this is a good song. DISAPPEAR. If you can’t stand her scream-singing, this one has almost none of it, so have a listen. And oh yes, a vintage shop in Winnipeg – RAGPICKERS. It got my heart racing of course. But I didn’t get to go in because it was closed. What a shame.

This was on the set of the Easter Seals Telethon on CBC this past Sunday. Easter Seals helps kids with physical disabilities. The whole thing poked at my heart and got very emotional. Helping, even in a small way, is food for the soul. I loved it and will do it again next year.

This is me trying to get a memorabilia photo of myself while in Winnipeg and ended up settling for a random grunge wall in the back streets somewhere. It was more interesting than anything else I saw. Alright, so it wasn’t the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen, but a fantastic work opportunity nonetheless. :)
PS. I set my 7D on some flimsy wooden handrail and risked its life for this photo.

I’ll be back on Tuesday!
I was at the Easter Seals Telethon this afternoon, in Canon’s time slot from 3:00-4:00pm, taking phone calls for donations to kids with physical disabilities. It was a heartfelt experience. Plus, there’s something about being on TV that makes people excited – it was all broadcasted live on CBC. I’ll post photos this week!

My camera is in the repair shop. I did indeed scratch the life out of the mirror inside it with a Q-TIP! Can you believe that a Q-TIP can actually scratch the life out of something? The mirror is getting replaced for $25. Cheap & cheerful. Lesson learned.
If you take anything away from this post, let it be this: never touch the inside of your camera. Not with an eyeglass cloth, not with a Q-tip, not with the softest fabric you have. The inside of your camera is a million times more delicate than your lenses. Just leave it to the camera technicians.
The sky is one of my favourite backdrops. But only when they are the perfect shade of blue with the perfect set of puffy clouds. Without a little bit of cloud, the sky is not quite perfect because photos look flat without them. This pigeon would look better if there were more clouds captured in the frame. :)

I went for a quick shoot after work today and when I aimed the camera at the sky to capture this plane, I noticed two black squiggly lines through the lens. It bothered the crap out of me. No, I could not wait one night to go visit our Repair Centre at the office tomorrow, so I rushed home and decided that I could fix this myself. Of course, I was regrettably wrong. I pulled an eyeglass cleaning cloth and some Q-tips, opened up my camera, stuck my finger in it for the first time ever, and started wiping down the glass, thinking that should do the trick. Except, it made it ten times worse and now there are a billion lines and each line is poking my wounded heart. I feel so helpless. At least the Repair Centre is beside our office. And at least I got a shot of the airplane before I made a mess. At least, at least.

And naturally, life is brighter. A girlfriend and I drove around for a photo fun this afternoon and discovered a string of photo spots that we’ve now lined up for all of Spring. I’m ecstatic at the thought of Spring photography. And even more for Summer photography.
Missed a photo yesterday. And almost missed one today – but here it is, past midnight, because it’s better late than never.
I saw INSIDIOUS. I’m waiting for the next horror film that terrorizes me. The last one was The Fourth Kind and it haunted me in my sleep for weeks. I hated it but was also disturbingly satisfied at the same time, because it was indeed terrifying enough to wake me up in the middle of the night.

What a FANTASTIC cover of Adele’s Someone Like You. A beautiful voice for a beautifully sad song. Amazing!
“I’m selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times, hard to handle. But if you can’t handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don’t deserve me at my best.” –Marilyn Monroe
These quotes have nothing to do with the photos I’m posting. I just like them. And I like not making sense.
